Yellowstone Ending After Current Season 5
Popular Western Drama Will Conclude
Yellowstone, the hugely popular Western drama on Paramount Network, will be wrapping up with the current fifth season. The show, starring Kevin Costner as Montana rancher John Dutton, has seen its audience grow exponentially since debuting in 2018. However, it has now been confirmed that there will not be a Season 6 of the show.
Rumblings of Behind-the-Scenes Issues
There have been reports of some drama behind the camera, particularly between lead actor Costner and the show’s producers. While specifics haven’t been revealed, it seems Costner hasn’t been happy with aspects of the production, leading to conflicts over schedules and locations. These rumored tensions apparently came to a head, factoring into the decision to end Yellowstone after Season 5.
New Show On the Way
The Paramount Network has announced that a new, yet untitled series set in the Yellowstone universe will premiere in December 2023. Several of the show’s cast members are expected to reprise their roles to some extent in the new program. So while Yellowstone is concluding, the story will continue in this follow-up project from creator Taylor Sheridan.
Disappointing News for Fans
Obviously, the conclusion of Yellowstone will come as very disappointing news to its many devoted viewers who have been engrossed in the soapy, addictive drama over five seasons. With its huge audience and CLIO Awards success, the show seemed destined for additional seasons. But in spite of its popularity, the curtain is being drawn on Yellowstone.
Hope for the New Series
While Yellowstone Season 6 won’t happen, fans can take some solace in the planned new series which will pick up threads from the original show. With the same creative team and cast, the new program may capture much of the same intrigue and entertainment that made Yellowstone a sensation.
